WCA Deal Report for May 22, 2026

  • Laura R. Fisher’s GIRL ON THE LINE: A STORY OF SEX, VICE, AND THE LOST MEMOIR THAT HELPED SHAPE MODERN AMERICA, a work of literary and social history set at the turn of the 20th century, following four female firebrands as they navigate San Francisco’s notorious vice district, centered on a young sex worker endeavoring to write her tell-all memoir, only for the pages to become a flashpoint in America’s early struggle over sexuality, censorship, feminism, and labor before vanishing for more than a century, to Zach Phillips at Pantheon, in a very nice deal, for publication in fall 2029, by Chris Casuccio at Westwood Creative Artists (US). Rights also to Haley Cullingham at McClelland & Stewart (Canada), in a two-book deal.

  • Jordan Scott and Jamal Saeed’s LITTLE STONES, in which a child whose mother keeps him from floating away by filling his pockets with stones is carried off by the wind and must find his way back home, illustrated by Jasu Hu, to Lee Wade at Random House Studio, for publication in summer 2028, by Hilary McMahon and Chris Casuccio at Westwood Creative Artists for the author, and by Marlena Torzecka and Elisa Leung at Marlena Agency for the illustrator (world).

  • Ann Eriksson’s WHERE THE GLACIER MEETS THE SKY, which explores climate change through Icelandic folklore to expose how interconnected we are globally, to Meghan Macdonald at Dundurn Press, in a nice deal, for publication in summer 2027, by John Pearce at Westwood Creative Artists (NA English and French).
